WHO AM I?

My Story

Caronique Decius is first and foremost an island girl. Hailing from the Islands of The Bahamas, Caronique spent her childhood years taking care of her 2 younger siblings, while having an older one who never quite assumed the role of caretaker. By the age of 12 she was suicidal. She lived through sexual abuse, emotional neglect and underwent a lifetime of narcissistic abuse. Caronique spent the rest of her life trying to piece together what was left of her broken identity through higher education, spirituality, therapy, art and relationships.

Life Goal

Caronique is the holder of a Postgraduate Certificate in the Psychology of Mental Health as well as a certified Mental Health Coach and Art Life Coach. As both a professional and a patient, she has a unique advantage in understanding the challenges attached to mental illness and seeking help for the same. Caronique is keen to help not just people living with BPD, but anyone who struggles with mental illness and needs a safe space. She also works with spiritual organizations to assist in helping these spaces to be safe havens for people with mental health challenges. She believes that education gets you half-way there but empathy is the goal.

"Empathy is about finding echoes of another person in yourself."

- Moshin Hamid
